Hi Tim,
What a haunting article. I remember rereading the webpage that Sandy Pitman posted to during the '96 trip about two years after the fact (?was it sponsored by NBC??)when we were all very much attuned to the timeline of the day. There was a post from "late" in the day of the storm in which she spritely describes the "wonderful" day and the fact that everyone got back to Camp 4 safe and sound. I assumed that she had written it before the summit push and probably left instructions for someone to post it when they heard about the summit. I think there was something about Scott's sirdar (gosh, I can't think of his name) coming back to camp ahead of everyone and meeting them all with hot tea. No one ever bothered to edit it off.
