Hey magoo - I guess I'm not really sure what I mean except that it seems like there have been years where there wasn't so much bad news all the time - maybe you do just hear more of it because of the internet.

What do you mean Boulder Bob? Before there was news? Or before there was flash video that broadcast the whole press conference? Just wondering. Are you pining away for the good old days before the intarweb took over?

I'm kinda missing the days when there was no climbing news - instead of this stuff.

I could not post to their blog, but, they need to trace the email message that Charlie sent before he went missing. Sounds like there are allot looking for him.

Did anyone know about this?

Chris Boskoff and Charlie Fowler have been missing in Tibet for 3 weeks. They were due to return on Nov. 25th. See the article at www.alpinist.com

GBS: Good advice for everyone. I'm lucky in that no one I hang out with - young or old - scoffs at being prepared - carrying water, blankets, etc. Plan for the worst (even if it's on a road trip through civilization). Always have those mylar emergency coats - I know they're ugly. :-)

Right now there's 2 people from Dallas and one from NYC (I think) lost on Mount Hood. Who would have thunk it? It's been a long time and more storms are coming in.

Just another one of those things I guess. Too many factors coming into play including the two that always seems to be there - they took a wrong turn and someone's ego was out of wack at the wrong time. Today's SF Chronicle has a good detailed story.
