i think it's the rotator cuff but I didn't see the point in finding out this close to my trip. Or it could be related to the aftermath of a primitive operation the shoulder experienced some 29 years ago. I'm hoping it's work-related and will improve after April 15.
my plans for Colorado are contingent on the shoulder but I will be out May 2-7 for a visit to the usual suspects.

So, Tim - what’s up with your left shoulder? And what’s your plan for May?
Magoo - good pictures - thanks for the memories.
Ha - so geocaching is an fancified version of orienteering.
Yeah Rose - what are you following - I always like your updates.

Don't know who BBob might be referring to, but I'm working pretty hard right now and obviously deserve several months of recuperation afterwards.
I'll be in Colorado for the first part of May but my climbing may be limited to some scrambling as currently my left shoulder is pretty much toast. I'm hoping that after April 15 it will make a rapid recovery but it has a long way to go to where it can bear my weight (which is about 12 pounds more than when I last went to the Rockies).

magoo - What's geocaching?
Hey magoo & Hi everyone,
I met an old friend from Kansas last week in Boulder to see the Thai movie "Ong Bak". We had dinner at the Himalayan Restaurant (just off the Boulder mall). I believe it was the same place where we had dinner with Dave Lim a few years ago.
Just a thought: I don't think you should trust anyone who only works during the tax season.

Hi all,
I see Dave's summit photos at http://www.everest.org.sg/
Boulder Bob: Thanks for posting that from Jay L. Hopefully one day he'll be able to sign up for this blog.
He has my email address blocked so it's hard to give him additional help when my emails keep getting bounced back.
Hope all of you are enjoying Spring!

Jay:
Thanks for the note. Jake is staying home this year. I am in Nepal now in Namche Bazaar going up part way with the South side trekkers. Fly back to KTM tomorrow and then over to Beijing to meet the incoming folks for the Tibet side. We're trying something different this year, routing people in via Beijing instead of KTM, just in case things in Nepal went totally haywire. Anyway, it should put a new twist on the trip with a couple full days of sightseeing in Beijing before flying to Lhasa. Hope all is well!

Rose, I don't think we were alone in our fascination of Everest '96. Take today's NYTimes, for example. In an article on an ER physician's fourth attempt at Everest, who is mentioned but Beck Weathers.
BTW, the doctor is Chuck Huss, whose previous attempts have been foiled by:
1) malfunctioning oxygen mask
2) food poisoning
3) high winds
he is paying Apa Sherpa $30k this year to get him to the summit from the Nepalese side.
