I see that mounteverest.net has fired off their next salvo in the TCCD debate.
Really, as a very wise poster once posted, "What does it really matter if he made it or not? Is it really important that he ws the 980th to the top of whatever?"
Gotta say that I agree.

I just hope that BBob is using HIS own summit photo. :-)
Way to go BBob!

congrats to BBob and bro for finishing another Pike's Peak Ascent--I heard the organizers thought it was getting too easy, so they arranged for a hailstorm during the event.
We had a local fellow with an official finish (under 30 hrs) at the Leadville 100.

Magoo - I think that it's fair to see the situation as you do. However until someone can come forward to prove the lack of a summit (tough enough in most cases), then I have to think that all he is guilty of is poor atribution.
He likely should have handled things differently, but he has a fairly gung-ho history and acts first and allows the chips to fall where they may. I imagine that this what has made him a success and why he is a much sought after business speaker
The bottom line is that he and his sherpa were alone on the summit that day, so there will be no conflicting reports. Also, my understannding is that as climb leader TCCD had all others sign NDAs, so that he has approval on what can or cannot be said about the trip. Now don't read too much into the NDAs, they are not uncommon in expeditions where there is a commercial aspect, regardless, once in place the leader sets the content.
Even if someone had something to say about what happened that day, they would be unable to share it, so we have to accept what we are told. I think it is very interesting that e-news, a long time supporter of TCCD, has not entered the debate.

Bruce: come on. The only reason that BS is coming up with his goofy, hand-in-the-cookie jar explanation is because he was called on it, IMO.
Thanks Bruce. My opinion: he summitted, he needs to fix his website. At least he paid for the video!

[magoo: if you have time, thanks for making any of the URLs active links, I can't seem to get the hang of it]

Interesting article here:

It appears that BS is guilty of nothing more than poor attribution. I remember when I first saw the video, I thought that he had simply used footage from his 98 climb with him on the sat phone from the South Summit.
I still don't think that there is cause for legal activities. The Web sites in question only pointed out the differences and raised the questions - actions that were precipitated by the lack of acknowledgement of the nature of the video clip.
