Best of luck to Tim and BBob. An SJ summit flag?? Hmmmm... What a good idea. Too bad I don't have a sewing machine anymore. I used to be known as Betsy Rose. :-)

ENews is slowly reporting on their findings on Everest this year. It's all very oblique as usual. I will try to summarize when they finally come to the point. They apparently have someone (unnamed) who found an old body that they say "could only have only be SI", an indeterminate length of time ago. They say that their crew got to that very treacherous place and found only an old oxygen cylinder (which doesn't seem to be one from '24). They speculate that due to the steepness of the area the body must have avalanched down. All very intruiging but no firm information (like where on the mountain this was supposed to be). But they are not finished yet so we don't know if there is going to be any firm information given. It seems unlikely that they have found anything really significant. But it is an interesting read if anyone is interested.

Once again, good luck BBob and Tim.

Best regards,
Rose

Best wishes to both Tim and BBob.

well, now that Charley has decided to go bash someone else, I'm fairly optimistic to be able to fly to Miami (Florida, not Ohio) and then to Lima (Peru, not Ohio) today. Have two peaks on the agenda, Pisco and Yannapacha--these are in the Cordillera Blanca, north of Lima. Pisco is apparently a very popular peak--at 18,900 ft with only a 30 degree ridge climb to the summit, attracting climbers for acclimatization and hikers to try their first alpine ascent. Yannapacha at 17,900 is a sustained 45 degree climb, with a 60 degree finish (if the headwall is in decent shape). Will rappel part of the way off Yannapacha.
The plan is to take the bus to Huaraz (10,500 ft) tomorrow and be in Base Camp (15,000 ft) by Tuesday--may not be feeling too hot on arrival there, kind of a quick move up in altitude. Back on the 26th.

Anyway, the best laid plans of mice and men ... Hopefully I won't be posting a followup that nothing is moving in the Sunshine State today.

Good luck to BBob on his century climb. Maybe we need an SJC summit flag made?

Wow! Slow times on the SJC blog. I guess it just goes like that sometimes.

Bruce: saw Riding Giants - was very good. Did you ever get to see Dogtown and Zboys?
