PBob: You'll have to get yourself a Mac and kiss those fatal crashes goodbye!
No...I was at school and didn't have my "favorites" listed on my work computer, but it was reassuring to find that when my computer has its next fatal crash -as they always do, I'll still be able to get back here.
I may not have mentioned that Jay and I had a chance to get together in Chicago during Easter break. My son, Joel, and I took the train down for a couple of days to do some shiftless bumming and Jay was kind enough to meet us at our hotel and take us to dinner. He is always so gracious and happy to share whatever photos he has from his latest adventure. For some reason, he is still unable to post here, but he does lurk and has unwavering loyalty to this group. I know he'd want me to say "Hi" for him.

Carrie -
I have a friend who has a Perception, maybe even the Shadow, and loves it. I'm not familiar with Mark's brand but fiberglass is generally preferred over the rotomolded plastic type, providing money is no object. That said, a plastic boat that avoids storage in the sun will serve you just fine!
Just caught the story on Yahoo about the American climber, Michael O'Brien, who died in a fall coming down the Khumba Ice Fall. There weren't any real details, except that he was 39 and climbing with his 32 year old brother. They were returning from one of the higher camps but it didn't say there had been a summit bid.
Wow! Two clicks from the Google Search engine and I got to this Blog. Not Bad!!!

Carrie - How long will it take you to run that entire circuit?
Hi PBob - Mark's boat was given to him by a co-worker, can't beat that! It's a fiberglass boat by Northwest Kayak I think (a local company at any rate). For my introduction to the sport we got a plastic Perception Shadow. I'm happy with it so far. We have been doing day-trips for training with our boats loaded with most of the gear we will take. We have reservations for the Bowron circuit in June. Can't wait!!
Hi Carrie -
Welcome to the sport. We have snow showers in the forecast this morning and my kayak still hangs in its winter berth in the garage...but soon. Camped on the shores of the Mississippi this weekend. My winter bag managed to fit in with this "spring" season pretty well. The trip also served to haul some of my sons dorm stuff home for the summer. What kind of boats did you get?
