I found the site after I read Into Thin Air.
I have since found data for the Mount Everest and rendered it.
The most interesting aspect has been finding the people who did the Reenactment of the events of 1996.
One aspect of the Summit Journal Chat has been finding a group of people to discuss things with.
I enjoyed meeting several in Boston - we had an interesting day and ended at a dinner. I also went to hear DB talk with Ross.
I have spent many hours with this group. Sometimes I gave up other work in order to be on-line.
I learned allot about myself through this process.
My hopes, my dreams, my doubts, my desires.
My real-world life and my on-line life have changed allot since I joined this group.
The world has changed.
We have lived through trying times.
I remember being in the board from of a Swedish company in 1999 and the talk somehow turned to Everest. The president of the company went out of the room for a few minutes and when he returned he presented me with a large poster of a climber "on top of the world" whom the company had sponsored. It was truly a high point for me - what a connection I felt to the president. It was as if our spirits were lifted and reflected by the effort we appreciated in the climber.
On a recent trip to China, I had many interesting interactions with others who were traveling on to Tibet or had been to Nepal to the mountains. It's funny how much I have learned here has contributed to my real-life experiences and conversations.
I have not been successful at bringing in my friends and relatives - they have traveled to Nepal and met some of the Royal family and I wanted them to share their experiences here.
Thanks for posting your memories, histories and stories.
Peace,
TTT
