CSTerry: I know. Me too, and it's a habit that goes beyond the habit. Wanting to please, not being able to say "no" and feeling nostalgia for crucifixes... For crying out loud, it's a symbol of barbarism! But...they mean well. My second grade nun is still working, as a missionary in Zimbabwe. I forget, but who was the patron saint of lost causes? That saint should weigh in on that sorry situation. As for that gum wrapper - shame on you.
