Hi PBob and Carrie,
I missed you both. I am so glad you got back in. I had a little trouble to start but magoo and BBob hung in there with me. I was able to bookmark the site and with the remember my password- I haven't had trouble since. (Oh, no! Now I've gone and done it- I'll probably be locked out by some glitch.)

Tim, another hurricane headed your way. Good luck - maybe it will go east this time.

ENews has posted some Q&A sessions on the results of their SI search. Still no definite answers but it's an interesting (if drawn out) read for those who are interested. The last I looked they are still promising additional sessions. They are trying to identify an oxygen cylinder from the place where they believe an unidentified climber saw a body with old clothes some years ago. But there was no body (they assume it avalanched in the intervening time). The cylinder is old but doesn't resemble the cylinder that the M&I guys found that is identical to those on the last photo of M&I. So it' s not clear that they found anything really although they are making a big deal and promising more information later. :-)

From some individuals who are more in the know than I am, it seems that there really are still fairly sizeable pieces of real estate up there still to be searched. Particularly if we lose our preoccupation with thinking that M&I just intuitively chose the current route. So maybe there will be more on this story in future years. There is nothing that I know of to indicate that IMG will be continuing the search. But there seem to have been a few other teams up this year so there probably be more searching by someone. I was interested to learn that folks have actually calculated the current location of the '24 ice from the Rongbuck glacier. Personally, I would like to have someone search there with a metal detector. ;-)

Best wishes to all,
Rose
