Congratulations, Tim, on completing the Boston ( Georgia ) Marathon. Even a half marathon is quite the achievement. The folks in Georgia must have a pretty good sense of humour, I understand they have a ' Tour de Georgia ' cycling race which Lance Armstrong competed in last year.
I am off to Banff at the end of the week to take in the Banff Mountain Film Festival from Friday to Sunday. I'll be attending talks given by Carlos Buhler, John Roskelly and Dr. Robert Marshall ( translator and defender of Walter Bonatti ).
Films will include the World Premiere of Charles Houston's ' Brotherhood of the Rope ' about several of the early American attempts of K2 and ' Women of K2 ' not suprisingly, this is about the 5 women who have summitted K2. There are many other mountain/adventure films as well.
There is a Literary Lucheon on Friday where Colin Wells, author of ' Who's Who in British Climbing ' a collection of bio's of climbers past and present, will be speaking.
Lastly, I'll be attending a couple of Noon Hour Seminars featuring panel discussions. The one I am most looking forward to is ' The Rise of Ego-Tourism ' about the adventure racing phenomenon. Apparently, this one has a terrific moderator!
