Rose, I don't think we were alone in our fascination of Everest '96. Take today's NYTimes, for example. In an article on an ER physician's fourth attempt at Everest, who is mentioned but Beck Weathers.
BTW, the doctor is Chuck Huss, whose previous attempts have been foiled by:
1) malfunctioning oxygen mask
2) food poisoning
3) high winds
he is paying Apa Sherpa $30k this year to get him to the summit from the Nepalese side.
