Whew ! I made it! Trying to access the site for a while now. Every time I tried to get in, the site was down. Or was I being blocked for not behaving myself (again)? Only magoo knows the truth....
Hard to type today...sliced off the tip of my finger pruning shrubs yesterday. (Good thing I wasn't using the electric hedge trimmer at the time!) I am SO not domestic! I need to stay in the backcountry where I don't hurt myself!
Read a full page article in yesterday's newspaper about how this has been the most lethal year on Everest since 96; how folks don't even bother with rescues. Is it because they're not thinking right in the death zone or it is because they don't want to risk their $40K summits? EV was interviewed for the article, and tried to be very diplomatic about it all. Wowie, though...seems to me that the ethics of the hard-core climbing contingent has been diluted by the novices and the entrepreneurial spirit of the guide companies.

(Has this been discussed? I hadn't seen this years' death rate/rescues mentioned. If I'm repeating, my apologies. I'll blame it on the blood loss from my tragic landscaping accident yesterday!)
