this is my lucky day! (irony intended) Thanks for posting BBob. I always thought I had some trees mislabeled from my trip to Sequoia/Kings Canyon back in 2000. I thought they might be bristlecone pines, but a quick google search and now they are correctly (I hope) labeled as foxtail pines:

Really amazing territory, especially considering its proximity to Los Angeles--hope y'all had a good trip, Bob.
So, before resuming lurker status--nothing very exciting outside this year, recovered from shoulder surgery, went hiking on the AT, signed up for a marathon, got a bad case of plantar fasciitis, ditched my $400 orthotics, still plan to run the marathon (same one as last year).
